Welcome back blog!
Last week I had mentioned how me and my partner were leaning towards picking action as the genre for our opening. However, after much deliberation we came to realize that action might be a tough genre to execute for our project. Although action is a super effective genre when it comes to grabbing the audience's attention, it would be tricky to find all the resources to make an action opening.
Most action films nowadays include big money shots whether it be with big explosives or cars flying off of a bridge. Action films can involve complex choreography, spectacular stunts, and special effects which can be challenging for newcomers to manage.
Today in class we had meetings with our teacher, Mrs. Stoklosa, to discuss our blog formatting. While in the meeting, I took the opportunity to ask her for advice regarding choosing the genre. She agreed with me saying the action would be a difficult genre to execute.
However, I did not want to abandon the action genre completely. Therefore I asked Mrs. Stoklosa if it would be possible to combine two genres. With her approval, I presented the idea to my partner and he was on board. We decided that we wanted to do a combination of action and romance.
It may be quite effective to draw in viewers and establish the mood for an interesting plot by fusing romance with action in a movie's opening moments. This combination will allow for more complex storylines, stronger emotional connection, and well established tone.
